Kicked off by the annual Adam Smith Symposium the Festival brought together a number of prominent names from the worlds of politics, history and the arts provided audience with humour, debate and enlightenment. The Adam Smith Lecture was once again opened by the Right Honourable Gordon Brown MP and provided a fantastic occasion for attendees to discuss the Scottish Enlightenment, with discussion led by historian Professor Tom Devine.
