Adam Smith Festival of Ideas 2020 Event Postponed Due to Coronavirus
Adam Smith Global Foundation announced on Wednesday that Kirkcaldy’s Festival of Ideas has been postponed due to concerns over the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus illness.
Given the developing situation regarding Coronovirus, the board of the Foundation met on Tuesday 10th March to discuss the most appropriate course of action for the upcoming Adam Smith Festival of Ideas.
Taking into account guidance from the Government, Chief Medical officer and the NHS, a decision has been made to postpone all of the events planned as part of this year's programme.
Michael Levack, Chair of the Adam Smith Global Foundation explained; "The health and safety of everyone involved and attending is paramount, and we do not want anyone to be put at risk.
"The board has understandably decided to be cautious and postpone the events.
"We feel this is the safest thing to do given the current available guidance on the virus, the timing of events and the fact that some involved large gatherings of people, including families and potentially those at greater risk.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank everyone involved for their understanding. Once events are rearranged, we will let everyone know the details and the Box Office will be in touch with all those who have purchased tickets.”
