Our immersive experience takes you through the streets of Kirkcaldy, where Adam Smith, the father of modern economics, spent his formative years and wrote significant parts of his masterpiece, The Wealth of Nations. Key Highlights

Our guided Heritage Tour begins at the Adam Smith Heritage Centre, where you’ll be introduced to key aspects of Smith’s life, including his childhood, education, and revolutionary ideas. Led by knowledgeable guides, the tour will take you through significant locations, each offering a glimpse into Smith’s world and the vibrant community of Kirkcaldy during the 18th century.

Adam Smith Heritage Centre

The 18th century industrial building is situated within the grounds of Adam Smith's former home. It is a rare surviving example of the once common rig buildings in Kirkcaldy.

Adam Smith Close

Walk along the timeline set in stone slabs, charting the key events in Smith's life and career, giving a physical sense of his journey from Kirkcaldy to becoming a world-renowned figure.

Smith’s Garden

Walk through the serene garden where Adam Smith is believed to have penned parts of The Wealth of Nations. This tranquil space offers insight into his reflective nature and intellectual pursuits.

Old Kirk

Visit a significant historical site where Adam Smith was baptized in June 1723.
