Kirkcaldy Lottery Project

Launched in September 2024, the Kirkcaldy Lottery was created to support local good causes, celebrate community spirit, and provide residents with a fun way to give back while having the chance to win prizes. Thanks to our amazing players, the lottery has already helped fund many fantastic local projects – from heritage and culture to community events and support initiatives. And this is just the beginning! With more projects lined up in the coming months, the Kirkcaldy Lottery is proving to be a powerful way of keeping money local and directly supporting the groups and charities that make Kirkcaldy such a special place.

Upgrades on Fife Department Store project

From September 2024, thanks to the incredible support from our community, the Adam Smith Global Foundation has been able to deliver a series of exciting public art projects that have revitalised key areas of the High Street, including empty units after the Fife department Store and the old New Look Store.

Catherine Lindow’s artwork brought Adam Smith’s Kirkcaldy to life through a creative lens, showcasing shops inspired by the town’s rich heritage. The displays have attracted great feedback from locals, proving that public art has the power to uplift and reconnect us to place and identity.

Empty BHS Store project

The shop front was clad in old weathered and warped Sterling board. The first artist turned it down due to the difficult surface, but Kirkcaldy-born Lauren Morsley was undaunted with her bold large-scale mural design. ‘Dancing in the Streets of Raith’

was the chosen title to mark the 30 th anniversary of Raith Rover’s famous Coca- Cola Cup victory over Celtic, but rather than using football theme, Lauren chose to feature the celebrations and the dancing, it even includes a Busker Corner as street musicians often frequent the area (and have now adopted this spot at the mural).

The mural was sponsored by the Mercat (who own the former BHS shop) and Dulux supplied and mixed the special masonry paint free of charge.

Lang Toun Fest logo

The Kirkcaldy Lottery supported the Lang Toun Fest by taking a one-page ad in the festival programme, and we contributed the logo design created by fabulous Susan McGill. It is great to see so much going on in Kirkcaldy, and clearly this year's festival of over 130 events, including big names like Brian Cox and Val McDermid, brought many visitors to the town.

Whit’s gaun oan? project

Thanks to funding from the Kirkcaldy Lottery and the creative touch of Painty Lisa, we now have a brand-new community noticeboard in town! It’s the perfect spot to share posters, discover local events, and keep up with what’s happening in Kirkcaldy. Already, it’s proving to be a big success – helping bring people together and making sure no one misses out on what’s going on!

Young Adam Smith project

A giant mural of young Adam Smith, done by Kerry Wilson, adorns a gable end in the east end of the High Street. The mural was backed with funding and sponsorship from the Kirkcaldy Lottery, Fife Council, Blair Scaffolding and the Adam Smith Global Foundation!

Other smaller touches by Kirkcaldy Lottery

The Kirkcaldy Lottery has also supported a variety of smaller but impactful projects along the High Street, bringing new life and colour to the town centre. Thanks to the dedication of our wonderful volunteers and the generosity of our sponsors, we have been able to fund initiatives such as hoarding improvements, graffiti removal, painting of electrical boxes and shop fronts, and arranging flowers to brighten the streets. These efforts, though modest in scale, have made a visible difference – creating a more welcoming and vibrant environment for the whole community.
