Boy from Kirkcaldy" – New Animated Film Bringing Adam Smith's Story to Life Launches

On Friday 5th June 2026, Kirkcaldy’s Adam Smith Theatre hosted the world premiere of Boy From Kirkcaldy- a charming new short animated film that brought the remarkable life of the town’s most famous son to life in under ten minutes.

Created by local artist Daniel Mosley, the film has been launched as part of the 250th anniversary celebrations of Adam Smith’s The Wealth of Nations. It makes Smith’s story accessible and inspiring for all ages, whether you’re new to his ideas or already a fan.

The film debuted at the Future of the Economy Symposium, that took place at the Adam Smith Theatre on Friday 5th June, organised by the Adam Smith Global Foundation.

What makes Boy From Kirkcaldy particularly special is its strong focus on how Adam Smith’s upbringing in Kirkcaldy shaped his world changing ideas. The film proudly highlights this local connection and helps celebrate Kirkcaldy’s rich, and often undersold, heritage.
