A restored brass lamp now glows warmly at the entrance to Adam Smith Close on
Kirkcaldy’s High Street, welcoming visitors to the Adam Smith Heritage Centre as part of its
celebrations for the 250th anniversary of Adam Smith’s The Wealth of Nations.

The lamp, generously donated to the Adam Smith Global Foundation by the Glenshire Group
— the new owners of the former White Heather Pub site — forms the centrepiece of an
elegant facelift. Alongside the new lighting, fresh signage and colourful bunting now make
the entrance to Adam Smith Close far more eye-catching and inviting.
The signage was designed by local artist Lisa Graef, based at the King’s Theatre. It has
already improved the Centre’s outreach into the surrounding town, encouraging passers-by to step inside and discover more. Complementing these additions, the Knot Kirkcaldy Yarn
Bombing Collective has created a vibrant knitted floral arrangement for the garden. The
colourful display brightens the space beautifully, especially on sunny days.
These thoughtful improvements increase the Centre’s visibility and help build a strong,
recognisable identity for the Adam Smith Global Foundation. They also provide the perfect
backdrop for a series of special events planned throughout the year, including the major
250th anniversary celebrations in June.
Whether you join us for an upcoming event or simply drop by to see the new features, we
warmly invite you to visit the Adam Smith Heritage Centre in Kirkcaldy and explore the
enduring legacy of Scotland’s greatest economist.
The Centre is open on Thursdays and Fridays between 10:00 and 16:00.
